Weekend at Skeikampen
March 21st, 2010Thomas, Espen and I have been skiing this weekend at Skeikampen. Not the best resort, but after we had been following the weather forecast the last week we decided that due to danger of avalanches some places and not enough snow other places Skeikampen was the best choice.
Saturday morning we woke up to a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect, during the day we even got some slushy snow.
Look, me wearing my helmet...Espen and Thomas just behind. Skeikampen can be fun when the snow conditions are good, even if the slopes are not the longest ones, off piste is easily accessible from the lifts.
But when the conditions are just average or not even that, Skeikampen gets a bit boring. So when we woke up this morning and saw that the weather was like this, well...icy conditions with some snow here and there...we drove home at 12
Mechanical breakdown
March 19th, 2010As I have mentioned earlier, to commute each day is hard for the equipment. Today my bike chain snapped when I was about to accelerate from the sidewalk out in the road. This happened down by Aker Brygge, luckily I must say since it is not a long walk to the subway. Not decided what to do now, I will create a single speed of the bike, but the gear shifters are still quite ok, so I guess a new chain will do the trick for now.
Nothing else to do than use the subway when things are like this
Orango in concert
March 19th, 2010Yesterday I met my friend Marco, first we went out to eat and afterwards we went to see Orango in concert. Four years since the first time I saw them playing live. This time I found the concert much better, enjoyed the new songs and also the fact that they followed the principle which among others Nicke Andersson is a hardcore fan of "Don't talk, just play the music" (Remembering the Hellacopters concert from Hove-festivalen two years ago when they played fours songs without saying anything, then Nicke said "Tjena Norje", and played on...love it!!). First time I saw Orango they talked to much, but now they played with minimal pauses between the songs, love it! So thumbs up for Trond, showing his torso, and the rest of the band.

Ugly architecture
March 15th, 2010This weekend I saw the episode of the tv show Spekter. The episode was about ugly architecture

With that in mind I took these three pictures when passing over the bridge across E18 at Bjørvika. If good architecture makes you happy, I must admit that biking here each day does not make me happy in a degree that I myself notie...
And then off to something else, if you're in the need of a ski, you will find one at Hjortnes, alongside E18. I guess someone driving by in a car earlier this winter now have just one Fischer ski.
Online trucking in the USA
March 15th, 2010Got this url from my colleague Leslaw. A guy working as a truck driver in the US, broadcasting his location and also the forward view as well as from inside the cabin. If just dull stuff on tv, spend some hours driving on the Americans highways http://www.oczamikierowcy.com/?page_id=20
Always be prepared!!

På vegne av venner - Kristopher Schau
March 14th, 2010It has been a while since I've had the time to read books now, but when I one day discovered that the thin book Elin have had lying on the kitchen countertop was written by Kristopher Schau I had to read it. I've read about the book some time ago, back in 2008 Schau read an article in Aftenposten about funerals where no one shows up to attend it. (Maybe it was this article www.aftenposten.no/../article2787287.ece, but I don't know). The book is called "På vegne av venner" - On Behalf of Friends. Thin, but a very good book!
Mysterious coincidence, or what?
March 11th, 2010Picture from earlier today, the top issue at http://www.dagbladet.no, Vidar Riseth telling about the "mysterious" event when someone had something "mysterious" in his beer...alongside with a banner for "mysterious.no" http://www.mystisk.no...coincidence...you decide... (now hearing music from The Twilight Zone )

From Lindesnes to Nordkapp with bicycle III
March 11th, 2010The third leg, I have reached Kvam which is to be found in Steinkjer municipality in Nord-Trøndelag county. I remember from when I was a child, that Kvam had a old diary with a very tall chimney. One of the landmarks on the veeeery looong journey from home to my great-grandparents living in Åsen. So this means that I have done more than 1000 kilometers on my bike so far this year, looking good.
On my way to work, when at Etterstad I am passing by the first apartment building that OBOS build back in 1931, Etterstad 1. Trivial knowledge which might be useful in rare occasions.
